Selangor cops deny organising donation drive for Raya celebration

PETALING JAYA: Selangor police have denied organising a donation drive for a Hari Raya celebration.

In a statement Wednesday (March 25), Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Shazeli Kahar said that the police denied issuing a message on any donation drive for a celebration for the current festive season on March 26.

“The message claiming that the event will be held on March 26 at the IPK Selangor Multipurpose Hall, along with a request for donation contributions to an MBSB Bank account under the name 'Norfadiliah Md Nor', is false and is an attempt at fraud aimed at making illegal profit and tarnishing the image of police.

“The public is advised not to be deceived by the message and not to carry out any financial transactions to the stated account. Anyone who has already made a contribution to the account is urged to lodge a police report at the nearest police station.

“Legal action will be taken against any party found to have misused the name or identity of the police for fraudulent purposes,” he said.
