PETALING JAYA: Nine Malaysian students have earned international recognition in innovation projects, securing top awards at competitions in Bangkok, Thailand.
Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said he was proud of the achievement of four Kedah students who secured two gold medals and came second in the Primary School Engineering Category at the Bangkok Innovation Awards.
In a media statement, Ramanan said the achievements of Kedah students Ilaneyan Yuvarajan and Theerchanna Muniandy from SJK(T) KO Sarangapany, as well as Ilanarun Yuvarajan and Elamaaran Muniandy from SMK Sultan Badlishah had made Malaysia proud in the international arena.
“This achievement is not only commendable, but also proves that our younger generation possesses creative and high-impact ideas that are recognised at the international level,” he said.
Ramanan described the success as a symbol of the younger generation’s ability to elevate the nation through innovation and academic excellence.
“The sacrifices and encouragement of families are also a contributing factor to these children’s success,” he said.
“It shows that success is not an individual effort, but the result of strong collective support.”
Ramanan extended his gratitude to the teachers who guided the students throughout their journey to international success.
He also shared a touching moment when the students requested his autograph as a keepsake.
“Although unexpected, I take it as a great honour. I also took the opportunity to leave them with words of encouragement to continue striving forward,” he added.
Ramanan also applauded five pupils from SJK(T) Ladang Kinrara in Puchong, Selangor, for their achievement at the World Youth STEM Invention and Innovation 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand, on his social media post.
The school had won the “Gold Award”, “Panel Choice Award” and was among the top five in the Environmental and Sustainability category for an innovation project.
The pupils were Aarthisha Thiban, Aatheesha Moorthy, Keshwine Elattachan, Arvin Kumar and Puraarni Vivegan.
“This not only proves extraordinary capability in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), but also reflects the high level of discipline, perseverance and competitiveness among our pupils.
“This accomplishment shows that the nation’s young generation possesses great talent and remarkable potential to compete globally,” he said.
Ramanan said taking part in the international stage demanded thorough preparation, courage and strong self-confidence, and these children “have proven that they possess all these qualities brilliantly”.
“I will be inviting these outstanding children for a meet-up soon because I personally want to hear their stories of success and experiences in overcoming challenges on the world stage,” he said in a post on Saturday.
Ramanan added that their success was due to the strong support and continuous commitment of teachers and parents in empowering the talents and potential of the younger generation.
“This is proof that the government’s investment in education and STEM will continue to be a driver of national development.
“May this achievement serve as a catalyst to continue creating more innovations that benefit society and the nation, in line with our aspiration to produce a generation that is knowledgeable, skilled and highly creative,” he added.
