Three killed, five hurt in crash in Sri Aman


SRI AMAN: Three people were killed and five others hurt in an accident near Kampung Selepong Jinggau along the Serian-Sri Aman road on Friday (March 20).

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department said it received an emergency call at 8.30am regarding the accident, which involved two vehicles.

Three of the five people in one car were killed while all three occupants of the other car survived despite the vehicle being completely burnt, it said.

The deceased were identified as Lau Sie Tung, 70, Grace Lau Chi Ai, 22, and Lau Yok Leh, 22.

"They were pronounced dead by the medical team at the scene," the department said in a statement.

Two boys aged four and six sustained head injuries and were rushed to Hospital Sri Aman.

A woman and two other boys suffered minor injuries and were taken to the same hospital for treatment.

The bodies of the deceased were turned over to the police for further action.
