Anwar: Malaysia won’t intervene militarily in Middle East conflicts

KOTA KINABALU: Malaysia cannot get involved in what is happening in the Middle East, especially through military intervention, said Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He said that as a free country, Malaysia can voice its objections to war and violence.

“We do not agree that any country at all is attacked and colonised. We object to the attacks by Israel and the United States on Iran,” Anwar said.

Commenting further on developments in the Middle East, including the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, he said the implications were serious and likely to worsen.

He said that for Malaysia, among other effects, the cost of living would definitely rise.
