Over 6,000 cops to patrol housing areas, high-risk zones during Hari Raya hols

PETALING JAYA: A total of 1,732 motorcycle patrol units and 1,643 patrol cars involving 6,132 police personnel, will be deployed to conduct patrols in residential areas and high-risk locations nationwide during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri holidays.

Bukit Aman Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the move is to ensure that no crimes such as house break-ins occur in residential areas.

He said police would also conduct patrols in areas expected to experience traffic congestion to ensure smooth travel for those returning to their hometowns.

"Those who plan to leave their homes to return to their hometowns are advised to fill in the 'balik kampung form' manually at the nearest police station or download the Volunteer Smartphone Patrol application to help police carry out periodic patrols and monitoring," he said.

Mohd Yusri said this at a press conference after the 'Konvoi Iftar Sanjungan Budi Frontliner' programme at the Petaling Jaya District Police Headquarters here on Saturday (March 14).

Also present were Selangor deputy police chief Deputy Comm Mohd Zaini Abu Hassan and Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Shamsudin Mamat. – Bernama
