Man missing after boat capsizes in near Kapit


KAPIT: A man is missing after a wooden boat carrying five people capsized in the Batang Rajang river near Kampung Atas Kubu on Friday (March 23).

The incident occurred at about 7pm while the group was travelling from Kampung Atas Kubu to the wharf near Pasar Malam Kapit.

Four passengers managed to escape but one victim, Brando Jawi Mamba, 25, could not be located despite initial search efforts by those at the scene.

The Fire and Rescue Department has since initiated a search and rescue operation.
