Man killed in Melaka following argument with friend over mobile phone

MELAKA: A 25-year-old man died after he was believed to have argued with an acquaintance in Kampung Sungai Udang here on Wednesday (March 12).

Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Christopher Patit said the victim was found lying on the veranda of his house with three stab wounds to the chest in the 8.30pm incident.

"The victim’s brother discovered the incident after hearing a fight between the victim and the 44-year-old suspect, who fled about 300 metres from the scene.

"Initial investigations found that the suspect had come to the victim’s house to retrieve his mobile phone, but an argument broke out between them.

"During the struggle, the victim was believed to have been stabbed in the left chest with a machete,” he told reporters at the scene.

ACP Christopher said the body was sent to Melaka Hospital for a post-mortem, and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. — Bernama
