THE week-long staging of the Tamil language stage play Uravugal (Bonds) has been hailed as a historic moment for the local arts scene, Makkal Osai reported.

Produced by Telestar Productions founder SP Manivasagam and directed by Poochi Ravi, the play was staged at the Tan Sri KR Soma Auditorium in Kuala Lumpur.

It tells the story of a married couple who decide that divorce is the only solution for their marital problems and how this decision affects the lives of their two children.

The play takes a bold twist where the brother and sister unknowingly become a couple themselves as they do not know one another after their separation at a very young age.

The play, which saw strong interest from local arts fans and the public, will be staged again in Selangor.
