Two army corporals remanded over assault on fellow soldiers in Kedah


SUNGAI PETANI: Two military personnel with the rank of corporal have been remanded for three days to assist in investigations into an assault case that left two other personnel injured.

The remand order for the two men, aged 25 and 27, was granted to facilitate further investigations, Sinar Harian reported on Sunday (March 9).

The incident is believed to have occurred on March 5 at about 10pm in a guest room at a camp here.

During the incident, two victims, aged 21 and 24, were allegedly beaten, resulting in injuries to their backs.

Meanwhile, Kuala Muda DCP Asst Comm Hanyan Ramlan confirmed that his department had received a report on the incident when contacted.

“Investigations are still ongoing, and the victim is reported to have suffered severe bruising and injuries to his back,” he said.

He added that the cause of the incident is still under investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means.
