Melaka cuts food prices ahead of festive season

MELAKA: Discounts of up to 30% on essential food items are being offered through 113 Jualan Rahmah Madani events here, the state government said.

Melaka entrepreneur, cooperative development and consumer affairs committee chairman Allex Seah Shoo Chin said this was to help people get the items at prices lower than the market rate.

He said Jualan Rahmah Madani was among the efforts by the state government’s efforts to address the rising cost of living, mainly during festive seasons when demand for goods increase.

“Of the total 113 programmes, 22 are being held at fixed premises, while 91 will be via mobile sales at strategic locations throughout the state.

“The mobile sales approach enables more residents, including those in rural and suburban areas, to enjoy special price offers without having to travel far,” he said.

Seah said the programme focuses on food items commonly sought throughout Ramadan and Hari Raya.

He said buyers will also stand a chance of getting RM20 Touch ’n Go e-wallet vouchers in conjunction with the Rahmah Madani Ramadan bazaars held at four locations.

He said the voucher giveaway, which started yesterday, will end tomorrow.

The bazaar locations are Melaka Baru, Taman Bukit Tambun Perdana in Durian Tunggal, Jasin Bestari and Bandar Satelit Pulau Sebang.
