Illegal fireworks worth over RM400,000 seized in Klang


KUALA LUMPUR Illegal fireworks worth more than RM400,000 have been seized in a raid in Taman Klang Utama, Klang.

General Operations Force (GOF) 4th Battalion commanding officer Supt Amanjit Singh said a team from its intelligence branch conducted the raid at about 4pm on Tuesday (March 3).

"We detained two local men aged 29 and 32 for allegedly possessing and selling fireworks without valid permits.

"We also seized 272 large boxes containing fireworks as well as a lorry used to transport the items.

"The total value of the seized items is estimated at RM412,740," he said in a statement on Thursday (March 5).

Both suspects and the seized items were taken to the North Klang police headquarters for further investigation, he added.
