KUALA LUMPUR: Traffic issues prevented Julau MP Datuk Larry Sng (pic) from reaching the Dewan Rakyat in time to cast his vote for the constitutional amendments limiting the prime minister’s tenure to two terms, or 10 years.
Sng said he was not in Parliament on Monday (March 2) as he had several engagements elsewhere.
"By the time I got the call to return, it was only about three minutes before voting commenced. I rushed back but the traffic congestion did not make it possible," he said when contacted on Tuesday (March 3).
Sng stressed that there were no elements of sabotage, and that he supported the Bill.
"There is nothing controversial about it (the Bill) and I am happy to support it.
"With respect to constitutional amendments, I have always supported the government of the day," he said.

Pandan MP Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, meanwhile, dispelled allegations that he was among those who abstained from voting.
"It wasn’t me! My friends and I voted," he wrote in a social media post.
"We instead want changes to something else," he added, referring to amendments related to the separation of the attorney general and public prosecutor's roles.
On Monday (March 2), the Constitutional (Amendment) Bill 2026 to limit the Prime Minister's tenure limit to two terms failed to receive two-thirds majority approval from the Dewan Rakyat after a bloc vote.
A total of 146 MPs voted in favour, while 32 were absent and 44 abstained from voting.
