PETALING JAYA: Prices at Ramadan Bazaars will be continuously monitored in order to keep prices at reasonable rates, says the government.
The Prime Minister’s senior press secretary Tunku Nashrul Abaidah, in a live telecast on social media Tuesday (March 3), said that the prices will be monitored by the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry.
"Therefore, he (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) has urged the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry to ensure that continuous monitoring is intensified through Ops Pantau 2026, and the Prime Minister also wants the monitoring of food prices at Ramadan bazaars nationwide to be supervised more closely so that they remain reasonable and affordable," he said.
He also emphasised that business premises must comply with hygiene standards with the support of good facilities provided by each local authority, and the Rahmah Madani sales program should continue throughout this Ramadan to provide the public with access to essential goods at lower prices.
He also said that the government is viewing the issue of the spread of malicious slander, accusations, and false references seriously.
"This action is clearly intended to undermine the efforts of the Madani government and disrupt public order by mixing up different issues. On the issue of the desecration of the Quran involving a university student, the government wishes to reiterate that the individual in question had been detained by the police a day after the matter was widely known, on Feb 25.
"Immediate action was taken, and the individual was also charged in court today. The government will never tolerate any form of disrespect towards Islam, particularly against the Quran," he said.
