IPOH: Muhammad Alif Shahar decided to create cheesesteak buns at the Ramadan bazaar here after he noticed that it has not been seen at the stalls for several years.

He said the idea to create the dish took shape after three months of research, with the intention to offer something different for customers.

“I was already selling burgers, so I wanted to introduce something different and exciting for people to enjoy,” he said when met.

He said the cheesesteak buns are sold at four bazaars – Bulatan Meru, Taman Perpaduan, Tasek Indera Bercham and Simpang Taiping.

Muhammad Alif, 32, said his friend suggested creating cheesesteak instead of bringing products from the Klang Valley.

He then spent three months learning and travelling frequently to Petaling Jaya to learn more about the dish.

Meanwhile, the response from customers has been overwhelming. More than 500 cheesesteak buns were sold on the first day at Bulatan Meru alone.

“Across all four locations, total sales on the first day exceeded 1,500 buns. Curious customers came after we put it out on social media,” he added.

Muhammad Alif sells five types of cheesesteak buns – Classic, Supreme, Melt Moza, Pepperoni and Beef Loaf.
