KUALA LUMPUR: Cabinet ministers have met their key performance indicator (KPI) targets and carried out their responsibilities with integrity, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The Prime Minister said the Madani administration would not compromise on breaches of integrity.
“We believe that accountability is not just about punishing but about correcting, continuous improvement and moral responsibility to the rakyat.
“A high-performance and integrity-driven culture must be continuously strengthened to ensure each ministry truly functions effectively, efficiently and in a trustworthy manner,” he said in a written reply.
He was responding to Arau MP Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, who wanted to know about the Prime Minister’s commitment towards accountability among Cabinet members and whether their failure to perform would be met with stern action, including possible resignation from the Cabinet.
Anwar stressed that his Cabinet ministers were committed to upholding accountability in line with the Federal Constitution and owed both collective and individual responsibility to Parliament and the rakyat.
These principles, he said, were reflected through various approaches including how each ministry is required to set clear and measurable KPIs that are aligned with the Malaysia Madani policy as well as the 12th Malaysia Plan.
“These achievements are periodically evaluated by various agencies including the Performance Improvement Coordination Unit (Pacu),” he added.
Anwar said the government was also strengthening the implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Plan as well as empowering the National Audit Department and the Special Cabinet Committee on Anti-Corruption.
