Masjid Tanah Bersatu implodes as Mas Ermieyati, 39 committee members resign

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, a senior leader of Bersatu, announced her resignation as the party's Masjid Tanah division chief on Thursday (Feb 19).

Sinar Harian reported that the resignations were made with 39 other division committee members, according to former divisional secretary, Shahrul Azhar Amir.

"The two-hour meeting attended by division committee members, wing leaders and branch leaders went well and the division leader explained the latest developments in Bersatu's political conflict.

"This meeting unanimously recorded the stance of Bersatu Masjid Tanah that this action was taken due to the loss of trust in Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as Bersatu’s president.

"With our resignation, it is hereby announced that the Masjid Tanah Bersatu’s division committee has officially been dissolved," he said in a statement.

Mas Ermieyati, who is also the head of Srikandi Bersatu, confirmed the matter when contacted immediately after news of the resignation spread.

Last Saturday, the Masjid Tanah MP attended a political 'reset' event to support deputy president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin, who was expelled from Bersatu.

On Feb 13, expulsion notices were sent to 17 Bersatu members, including four MPs and two state assemblymen.

According to Sinar Harian, it is understood that Mas Ermieyati's presence at the rally was prompted after Hamzah's dismissal, putting him on the 'radar' of the Bersatu leadership.
