Most Bersatu members in Kepala Batas remain loyal despite leadership exodus, says exco member

PETALING JAYA: A majority of Bersatu members in the Kepala Batas division remain loyal to the party despite the recent resignations of several division committee leaders.

In a statement on Tuesday (Feb 17), Bersatu youth wing exco member Muhammad Khairi Zainol Abidin said only a few division committee members have resigned and left Bersatu, while the broader party machinery in Kepala Batas remains intact.

“The vast majority of branch committee members and ordinary members are still active and committed to the party’s struggle, he said.

“As a result, the Bersaty Supreme Leadership Council remains in a position to appoint a new pro tem (sponsor) committee from among the remaining members of the division to ensure continuity of operations, “ he added.

Muhammad Khairi also expressed appreciation to the outgoing division committee members for their service during their tenure.

He added that grassroots members will continue their usual activities in serving the local community and will keep working to strengthen the party’s position in Kepala Batas.

On Friday (Feb 13), Bersatu sacked 17 members, including several Supreme Council members, several MPs, state assemblymen and Opposition Leader Hamzah.
