Property agent remanded for allegedly stabbing woman in Kepala Batas


ALOR SETAR: A 32-year-old property agent suspected of stabbing a woman outside a restaurant along Jalan Titi Gajah in Kepala Batas here has been remanded for seven days.

Magistrate Nur Syifa Mohd Hamzah granted police a seven-day remand order for the suspect at the Alor Setar Court Complex on Monday.

The suspect, dressed in lock-up attire, arrived at the courthouse under police escort at about 8.20am on Monday (May 18).

It was previously reported that a woman suffered injuries to the right side of her neck after she was allegedly stabbed by a man known to her outside a restaurant on Sunday (May 17) at about 9.19pm.

The suspect is believed to have fled the scene but was arrested by police in the Masjid Taman Uda area on Monday at about 1.50am.

Kota Setar OCPD Asst Comm Syed Basri Syed Ali said the victim was taken to Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah for treatment and was in stable condition.

He said police were still investigating the motive behind the incident and the relationship between the victim and the suspect.

The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means.
