Sultan of Selangor and Tengku Permaisuri extend Chinese New Year greetings

PETALING JAYA: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, and the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, have extended their Chinese New Year greetings to the Chinese community in Selangor and throughout Malaysia.

In a message issued from Istana Alam Shah, their Royal Highnesses wished those celebrating "Gong Xi Fa Cai" and expressed hope that the new year would bring prosperity, well-being, and happiness to all.

His Royal Highness said celebrations such as Chinese New Year were not merely long-standing traditions but symbols of the nation’s rich cultural heritage that form part of Malaysia’s identity.

“Malaysia is built upon diversity of race, religion and culture. This strength makes us unique and respected on the world stage,” said the Sultan of Selangor.

Sultan Sharafuddin also reminded Malaysians that festive occasions should serve as a platform to strengthen goodwill and mutual respect among all communities.

“Let open houses, festive greetings and the practice of sharing blessings reflect our sincerity in honouring each other’s beliefs and cultures,” His Royal Highness said.

At the same time, the Sultan urged the people not to be influenced by a minority of groups, particularly politicians, who incite division for narrow self-interests. He stressed that the unity built over the years must not be compromised by rhetoric that divides society.

“This country belongs to all of us, and the harmony we enjoy today is the result of the tolerance and wisdom of previous generations,” he added.

His Royal Highness called on the people to continue preserving harmony by upholding moderation and a strong sense of togetherness.
