Midnight ferry trips for Penang's Miao Hui, CNY bash; kids enter ferry museum free

GEORGE TOWN: Ferry services between Butterworth and the island's ferry terminal will run until 1am on the nights of Jan 21 and Jan 24 for commuters going to Penang’s Miao Hui temple festival and Jade Emperor's birthday celebration.

These additional trips will operate after midnight, with trips at 12am and 12.30am from Butterworth, and at 12am, 12.30am and 1am from the island.

The frequency of services will remain at every 30 minutes throughout the extended operating hours.

The extended schedule on Jan 21 coincides with the annual Miao Hui festivities in George Town's heritage enclave.

Jan 24 marks Jade Emperor's birthday celebration, with much festivity taking place along the clan jetties of Pengkalan Weld.

Penang Port Commission is also offering free entry for kids to the Penang Ferry Museum from Feb 16 to Feb 18.

Malaysian children aged 12 and below can visit the museum, a ferry floating off the shore along Pengkalan Weld, at no charge, as part of the commission’s 70th anniversary celebrations.
