Two burnt to death in Kuantan car crash involving a luxury vehicle

KUANTAN: Two people were killed after the car they were travelling in collided with a luxury sports utility vehicle and burst into flames along Jalan Industri near a petrol station in Taman Tualang Indah here early Saturday.

Pahang Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer Zulfadli Zakaria said the victims, a man and a woman, were found burnt to death inside the car that was completely destroyed by fire.

"The Mentakab fire station received an emergency call at 12.57am and immediately dispatched a team with a fire engine to the scene," he said in a statement.

Upon arrival, firefighters found that the crash involved two vehicles, one of which was engulfed in flames.

Zulfadli said a male passenger in the luxury SUV sustained injuries and was given initial treatment by medical personnel at the scene, while the driver was believed to be unhurt.

"The car was totally destroyed by the fire, resulting in two occupants being found burnt inside the vehicle," he said.

He said firefighters extinguished the blaze using a hose reel from the fire engine’s water tank.

After the fire was fully contained, rescue personnel used hydraulic equipment to cut through the wreckage to extricate the bodies.
