Negri Sembilan employer fined RM122,000 for hiring undocumented foreigners

SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan Immigration authorities detained 93 individuals for employing and harbouring undocumented foreigners last year, with 20 already charged in court.

State director Kennith Tan Ai Kiang revealed that one employer was slapped with a RM122,000 fine after being found guilty of flouting immigration laws.

"Another 98 individuals were given stern warnings for similar offences," he told reporters, advising the public against employing or protecting undocumented migrants.

The offenders were charged under Section 55B of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for hiring foreigners without valid permits, and Section 55E for allowing such individuals to stay on their premises.

In 2025, officers conducted 763 operations across the state, screening 23,286 foreigners. Out of these, 2,078 were arrested for overstaying or lacking valid travel documents.

Tan urged employers to comply with the law, warning that the department will launch large-scale operations following the conclusion of the Migrant Repatriation Programme in April.

The ongoing amnesty initiative allows illegal immigrants to return home voluntarily without prosecution, provided they pay specific compounds.

A RM500 compound is imposed for entering or staying without a valid pass or for overstaying, while a RM300 fine applies to those breaching pass conditions. Applicants must also pay a RM20 fee for a Special Pass.
