Johor Bersatu’s Tan quits, citing loss of confidence in party leadership

JOHOR BARU: Johor Bersatu associate wing chief Datuk Tan Lek Khang has relinquished his position and announced his resignation from the party.

He said the decision was due to his loss of confidence in Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as party president and the party’s leadership as a whole.

“Muhyiddin has failed to address the internal party issues that have been dragging on.

“I hereby announce my resignation from the party effective immediately,” he said in a statement on Friday (Feb 13).

He said with his exit from the party, he has also given up his position as its Labis associate wing chief.

Tan said his resignation was followed by other members of the state associate wing committee, leading to the dissolution of its public complaints bureau.

Earlier, Opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin was sacked from Bersatu, effective immediately.

Bersatu disciplinary board chairman Datuk Mohd Radzi Manan said, in a notice issued Friday, that the matter had been decided during the board meeting on Thursday.

Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said the party’s top leadership has been informed of the termination of Hamzah.
