KUALA LUMPUR: Tampin Member of Parliament Datuk Mohd Isam Mohd Isa has been appointed as the new secretary of the Madani Government Backbenchers Club (BBC) with immediate effect, said BBC chairman Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa on Thursday (Feb 5).

She said the appointment was approved at a BBC Committee Meeting attended by the Chief Whip of each party in the government as well as independent MPs who support the Madani Government.

She said the meeting also discussed strengthening the role of the BBC as a strategic partner to the Madani  Government in ensuring that the reform agenda, political stability and public welfare continue to be advanced through the role of government MPs.

"Attention was also given to strategic planning ahead of the next general election, including efforts to reinforce the government’s policy narrative, improve the effectiveness of public service delivery and streamline the readiness of government MPs’ machinery on the ground,” she said in a statement.

The Sekijang MP said the meeting also reviewed the implementation of grassroots programmes with the public as well as initiatives to strengthen interactions among BBC members to further foster cross-party cooperation within the Madani Government, including discussions on integrated engagement programmes involving government MPs.

Dr Zaliha also congratulated Mohd Isam on his appointment and expressed confidence that he would play a key role in strengthening BBC’s organisational coordination and supporting the work of Madani Government MPs in a more structured and effective manner.

"The BBC is committed to continuing as a platform for coordination, policy support and strategic communication among government MPs to ensure political stability and that the national development agenda can be implemented effectively for the benefit of the people and the country,” she said. - Bernama
