Childcare centre investigated for neglect, abuse, still in operation


SHAH ALAM: The childcare centre currently being investigated for alleged child neglect and abuse is still in operation, according to police.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Shazeli Kahar confirmed the matter, adding that numerous reports were also received against the centre.

“As of Wednesday (Feb 4), it is still under operation.

“Investigations are ongoing and we are collaborating with Bukit Aman,” he said during a press conference at the police contingent headquarters here.

Previously, public outrage was sparked after a video circulated online showing a child, believed to be autistic, crying inside a locked storeroom of a childcare in Shah Alam.

Another video also went viral, allegedly showing children at a Puchong branch of the same childcare chain being instructed to crawl through a drain to evade inspection by officers from the Social Welfare Department (JKM).
