Bank executive died from stab wound to chest, say Alor Setar cops

ALOR SETAR: A stab wound to the chest has been identified as the cause of death of a female bank executive found in a house in Taman Sultan Abdul Halim, Jalan Tanjung Bendahara here.

Kota Setar OCPD Asst Comm Syed Basri Syed Ali said the autopsy was carried out on Zahrullail Basir, 52, who had three stab wounds, at Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah here on Tuesday (Feb 3).

"The autopsy found that the victim's cause of death was a stab wound to the chest. The stab wound to the left lung and heart caused severe internal bleeding, resulting in death within a short time," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Feb 4).

Zahrullail was found dead on Monday, with three stab wounds to the body as well as cuts on her head and palms.

Police arrested a 28-year-old male suspect, the victim's eldest child, within 24 hours and remanded him until Feb 9.
