Family holiday turns tragic as six-year-old drowns in Gadek hot spring

ALOR GAJAH: A family holiday ended in tragedy when a six-year-old boy is believed to have drowned in a hot spring pool in Gadek.

At about 7.40pm on Sunday (Feb 1), the victim from Pahang was found unconscious and floating in the adult pool by other guests at the site.

It was learnt that the incident was first reported to the local community medical volunteer team at the scene.

Upon arriving at the scene, the team immediately moved the child to a safe area, administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and alerted the emergency hotline.

An ambulance from the Alor Gajah Hospital rushed the victim for treatment, but unfortunately, he died at 8.24pm on the same day.

It was understood that at the time of the incident, the child was under the supervision of his relative and elder sister.

However, the boy was believed to have wandered into the adult pool without the knowledge of other family members before being discovered drowned by other guests.

The victim’s body was sent to the Alor Gajah Hospital for a post-mortem.

Meanwhile, when contacted, Alor Gajah OCPD Supt Ahmad Abu Bakar confirmed the incident.
