RENOWNED Bharatanatyam teacher Indira Manikam and spiritual leader Muthukumara Sivachariar were honoured during the Raja Raja Cholan Festival in Kuala Lumpur, Makkal Osai reported.

The event was organised by BV Productions at the Temple of Fine Arts to celebrate Tamil history and honour the legacy of the Tamil emperor who was also known as Arulmozhi Varman.

MIC deputy president Datuk Seri M. Saravanan officiated the event and commended the two, who were presented Lifetime Achievement Awards for their contributions to the local Tamil community.

Indira, who has also received the Anugerah Tokoh Seni Budaya award, founded the TKI Dance School which has produced over a thousand dancers in the last three decades.

Muthukumara has been a respected faith leader and orator for decades, serving as an adviser to many Hindu organisations.

More than 600 people attended the event, which also featured speeches by Tamil Nadu-based scholar Sol Ventar Suki Sivam and local orator Thamizhthiru C. Pandithurai.

> A man in India stabbed three people, including his own sister, in a property dispute and then got hit by a bus and died while fleeing, Malaysia Nanban reported.

Ramprabu, 37, from Salem, was apparently dissatisfied that his sister Muhanthi had received more money from their father’s will following his death.

He confronted her and got into a heated argument before Ramprabu pulled out a knife and stabbed her in the stomach.

When Muhanthi’s relatives called Ramprabu, he challenged them to face him if they dared.

Sakthivel, 38, Muthukumar, 43, and Gobinath, 29, then confronted Ramprabu and he again puled out a knife and stabbed two of them.

When bystanders approached after hearing the commotion, Ramprabu then tried to flee but was hit by a bus and died on the spot.
