Famous actor arrested after testing positive for drugs

PETALING JAYA: Selangor police have confirmed that a famous male actor was arrested after testing positive for drugs.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Shazeli Kahar confirmed the arrest but refused to comment further.

"Yes, I can confirm there was an arrest," he said, according to mStar.

Previous media reports indicated that the 40-year-old actor was arrested on Wednesday before being taken to the Shah Alam Magistrate's Court for a remand application to assist in drug-related investigations.

The court then ordered a three-day remand until Friday (Jan 30).

The actor involved is believed to have been arrested under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 following a positive drug urine test result.

However, further details regarding the type of drugs detected and the length of further detention have not yet been revealed by the police.

It is understood that this is not the first time the actor has faced drug-related problems.

Previously, the Petaling Jaya Magistrate's Court had found the actor guilty of using THC drugs.

However, the actor escaped jail time after the Court of Appeal allowed him to pay a fine of RM5,000.
