MCA presents first fully AI-generated CNY video

PETALING JAYA: MCA has gone festive for Chinese New Year with its latest new year music video.

The fully artificial intelligence-produced (AI) piece is titled ‘Good fortune galloping upon arrival’ (马到好运来) and was launched by MCA’s Central Publicity Bureau in conjunction with the upcoming Year of the Horse.

Several MCA leaders, including President Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, Deputy President Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon, and Secretary-General Datuk Chong Sin Woon, were featured in the video as animated characters.

In a statement, the MCA Central Publicity Bureau said the lyrics and composition were wholly produced in-house. It is believed to be the first fully AI-produced Chinese New Year music video released by a political party in Malaysia.

“Malay subtitles were also added to the music video so that Malaysians of all backgrounds can enjoy the festive atmosphere together,” read the statement.

The song was released to inject new ideas into traditional Lunar New Year celebrations through a youth-friendly and creative approach, marking a new approach by the party to engage the public during the festive season.

“It is hoped that viewers will feel the happiness, warmth and sense of togetherness that the New Year brings while enjoying the song,” the statement added.

The AI-produced Lunar New Year music video has been uploaded to MCA’s social media platforms on Facebook, YouTube and TikTok.

Meanwhile, MCA said it plans to continue holding its usual Chinese New Year practices and celebrations, including media visits, luncheons with party veterans and Chinese community groups, an open house on the first day of the Lunar New Year, and a media appreciation night.
