Cyclists from India embark on Sabah adventure tour

KOTA KINABALU: Cyclists from India are embarking on a Sabah adventure as part of the Ride Sabah North Borneo Cycling FAM Tour.

The six-day familiarisation tour is organised by Tourism Malaysia-Chennai and involves participants from the Chennai Cycling Association.

The ride, which officially started in the state capital, saw cyclists flagged off from the Sabah Tourism Board building by chief executive officer Julinus Jeffery Jimit yesterday.

Also present were Tourism Malaysia-Chennai director Hishamuddin Mustafa and Tourism Malaysia-Sabah director Haryanty Abu Bakar.

The tour is themed “Sabah Cycling Paradise, Malaysia Truly Asia”.

It covers key destinations including Kota Belud, Kota Marudu, Kudat, Kundasang and Tamparuli, offering participants a mix of coastal scenery, highlands and cultural towns.

The tour forms part of the Sabah Tourism Board’s strategic efforts to boost the state’s profile in the Indian market and attract more visitors.

The Board is also set to participate in the Outbound Travel Mart 2026 in Mumbai next week, where the Ride Sabah North Borneo Cycling Tour will be officially launched.

This initiative underscores Sabah’s ambition to position itself as a premier cycling and eco-tourism destination for the Indian market, supporting both Visit Malaysia 2026 and Visit Sabah 2027 campaigns.
