PETALING JAYA: A nurse from the Seberang Jaya Hospital in Penang has received recognition from the Health Ministry for her empathetic care of an elderly patient that recently went viral. Nur Deena Nadzhiefa was presented with a token of appreciation from Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad during the opening of the hospital’s new building on Saturday (Jan 24).

Dr Dzulkefly, who met the nurse in person, said the video of Nur Deena feeding the patient was touching and reflected the high value of kindness in the nursing profession.

"The award I present is small in value compared to the kindness shown by Deena. She proved that the most effective medicine in hospitals is not just pills or injections, but compassionate care," he said in a Facebook post.

The Minister expressed his appreciation to Nur Deena for bringing the spirit of 'Malaysia' to life in her daily tasks and hoped her attitude would inspire all healthcare professionals and the community.

The recognition is described as a symbol of appreciation for human values, aligning with the ministry's commitment to fostering empathy-based healthcare services.
