Man who claimed father hurt in falls at home probed for murder after victim dies in hospital

SERDANG:A man who originally claimed that his father suffered injuries after falling at home is now being probed for murder following an investigation into his claims.

In a statement Saturday (Jan 24), Serdang OCPD Asst Comm Muhamad Farid Ahmad said the suspect had brought the victim to Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz on Jan 19.

The 76-year-old man was brought in semi-conscious, and the suspect claimed he had fallen several times at his house in Seri Kembangan.

"Initial examinations found that the pattern of bruising on the victim’s body was irregular and suspected to be the result of injuries caused by a blunt object.

"Acting on the information received, at around 9:30pm the same day, the 40-year-old suspect was arrested at the hospital.

"He was then remanded until Jan 30 to assist investigations," he said.

On Jan 22, the victim died with the cause of death being listed as “head injury due to blunt trauma".

"The case has since been reclassified under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

"The matter is still under investigation," he said.
