PETALING JAYA: Six areas recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 10am on Sunday (Sept 27), with air quality showing marginal improvement compared to the 8am reading, according to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS).
In Johor, four areas continued to record unhealthy readings - Kota Tinggi (165), Pasir Gudang (164), Pengerang (162) and Larkin (156).
In Sarawak, IPD Serian recorded 152 while Sri Aman recorded 127.
Among the areas with the highest moderate readings were Kuching in Sarawak (93), Rompin in Pahang (86), Samarahan in Sarawak (84), Batu Pahat in Johor (80) and Nilai in Negeri Sembilan (79).
Shah Alam in Selangor (74), Bintulu in Sarawak (74), Cheras in WP Kuala Lumpur (73), Paka in Terengganu (73) and Tawau in Sabah (73) also recorded elevated moderate readings.
Meanwhile, 54 areas around the country recorded API readings at the moderate level, while eight areas recorded good readings - Balik Pulau in Pulau Pinang (40), Kota Bharu in Kelantan (38), Alor Setar in Kedah (37), Kangar in Perlis (35), Temerloh in Pahang (34), Besut in Terengganu (33), Tanah Merah in Kelantan (29) and Langkawi in Kedah (24).
API readings of between zero and 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, while readings above 300 are categorised as hazardous.
API data is released hourly based on readings from 68 air quality monitoring stations nationwide.
