Ramli reprimands two deputy ministers for chatting

TWO deputy ministers were reprimanded by Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker Datuk Ramli Mohd Nor for chatting among themselves while the Parliament proceedings were ongoing.

Ramli, who was presiding over the meeting at the time, called out the duo when he spotted them chatting while Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail was responding to a question on the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) during Question Time.

Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu was one of the two who were reprimanded.

“To that deputy education minister and the deputy housing and local government minister, are you also having a meeting in this House?

“Please pay attention. The minister is answering, take note,” said Ramli during Question Time in Parliament yesterday.

Saifuddin then proceeded to answer question on AKPS, which was asked by Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan (PN-Kota Bharu).

When the proceedings resumed after lunch, Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul who chaired the afternoon session, said he had received a note from Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh, in which the latter had clarified that he was not present in the chamber when the incident took place.

Wong then stood up to confirm the same, adding that he only entered after attending a Special Chambers meeting.

“I only clocked in after the Special Chambers,” said Wong.

Johari then clarified that Wong had not been involved.
