Cops find motorcycle used in Nilai jewellery store robbery


NILAI: Police have found a motorcycle used by two male suspects during an armed robbery at a jewellery store in a shopping mall in Bandar Baru Nilai here.

Nilai OCPD Supt Johari Yahya said the bike was found about a kilometre away from the shopping mall on Wednesday morning (Jan 21).

"We are still checking if the motorcycle registration plates are authentic. A police team from the state contingent has been sent to the scene to investigate," he said in a statement.

The police received a report on the robbery around 8.30pm on Tuesday (Jan 20). Both suspects were wearing helmets and had their faces covered. One was armed with a pistol. However, no shots were fired during the robbery.

There were two employees at the outlet during the incident. The suspects used an orange Lalamove delivery bag, and the losses incurred are estimated at RM60,000. Supt Johari said the case was being investigated under Section 4 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971.
