Van driver killed, five factory workers hurt in Johor crash


KULAI: A 64-year-old van driver was killed while five factory workers were injured after their vehicle was involved in a crash on Saturday (Jan 17) morning.

Kulai Fire and Rescue Station operation commander Muhammad Nor Zaki Mohd Ali said they received a distress call at 6.32am regarding the incident that occurred near Puspakom Senai, Jalan Seelong.

“A team of five firefighters arrived at the scene 16 minutes later and found all victims trapped. All of them were extricated using power rescue tools.

“A male driver was confirmed dead by Health Ministry personnel, while another five female passengers sustained minor injuries,” he said in a statement.

He added that the victim’s body was handed over to the police for further action.

“The five injured victims were handed over to Health Ministry personnel for further treatment.

“After ensuring the area was safe, the operation ended at 8.14am and our team returned to the station,” he said.
