Negri Sembilan DOSH to probe cause of ammonia explosion

SEREMBAN: The Negri Sembilan Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) will conduct further investigations to identify the cause of an incident involving the explosion of a leaking ammonia gas cylinder that occurred at the Seremban Toll Plaza exit heading north on Thursday (Jan 15).

In a statement tonight, the Negeri Sembilan director’s office said legal action will be taken against parties found responsible should there be any violations under the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 and its related regulations.

"The department takes seriously every accident or occupational disease arising from any activity across all employment sectors.

"The department also remains committed to enhancing the level of occupational safety and health in the country,” it said.

On Thursday, three individuals - a PLUS security guard, a PLUS toll officer and a lorry driver - were reported to have suffered breathing difficulties after one of 15 ammonia gas cylinders transported on a lorry exploded. – Bernama
