AFTER 15 years of trying, a couple has welcomed their first child born through in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) sponsored by the Tunku Azizah Fertility Foundation (TAFF), Harian Metro reported.
Abdul Aziz Abd Halim and his wife Noor Hamira Mohd Sani welcomed their baby boy named Mikhael, weighing 2.97kg, at Hospital Selayang last Friday.
Tengku Ampuan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah personally visited the mother and baby at the hospital, according to a social media post by the Pahang royal family.
The post mentioned that Tunku Azizah was delighted to spend time with Mikhael, who is the 150th baby born since TAFF was established in 2004.
> A farmer’s RM200,000 investment in Musang King durians is at risk as prices for the premium fruit plunged to a 10-year low, in Kuala Pilah, Kosmo! reported.
Norman Kassim, 55, urged the government to address the problem as farmers like him could face huge losses.
He invested in the business in 2020, after responding to the government’s call for more bumiputra to plant Musang King durians on a commercial scale.
His first step was buying nearly one hectare of land in Kampung Changgang, Inas, for RM80,000 to plant 100 premium durian trees.
“In a year, it is estimated that around RM50,000 is needed to ensure the premium durian trees are well-maintained,” he said, adding that a worker’s salary and equipment costs between RM3,000 and RM5,000 a month.
