Police nab reckless riders during early morning raid

SHAH ALAM: More than a dozen suspects have been arrested by the police during an anti-road menace operation here after they were caught riding dangerously and for drug usage.

Selangor deputy police chief Deputy Comm Mohd Zaini Abu Hassan said that the operation was conducted near Persiaran Elmina early yesterday morning.

“Based on intelligence and surveillance at the targeted locations, police successfully detected a group of motorcyclists performing extreme stunts such as racing with one another and riding against the flow of traffic, as well as executing the ‘zig-zag’ and ‘superman’ stunts.

“These reckless actions endangered their own lives and posed a serious threat to the safety of other road users.

“During the operation, seven men and three women aged between 17 and 26 were arrested. Those detained included students and private-sector workers.

“All have been brought to the Sungai Buloh traffic police station for further action,” he said in a statement.

Alongside the seizure of 10 motorcycles, five people were detained by the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) after testing positive for methamphetamine and other drugs.

He also urged parents to always know of their children’s wherabouts.

“Parents are advised to always monitor their children’s movements so they don’t get involved in street thug activities.

“The police will continue to intensify enforcement operations for the safety of all road users,” he said.
