Missing crew in Semporna boat collision found dead


KOTA KINABALU: A man reported missing after two passenger boating collisions off Semporna waters three days ago was found dead floating close to the town on Sunday (Jan 11).

The victim, Rosman Kandau, 24, was spotted by members of the public at about 8.40am.

Semporna Fire and Rescue Department station chief Mohd Akhimullah Adan said they were informed by the police that the public had spotted the body floating in an area close to the town’s Seafest.

He said the search and rescue team, who were on the third day of the search operations, went to the area and picked up the body from the sea before handing it over to the police for further action.

Rosman was reported missing following a collision between two passenger boats in Seafest waters at about 8am on Friday (Jan 9).

The incident involved seven individuals, with six other victims immediately rescued.
