Motorcyclist dies in collision with parked lorry, family seriously injured


KLUANG: A motorcyclist has died while his wife and baby suffered head injuries after crashing into a stationary lorry at Simpang Renggam here.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said the 28-year-old motorcyclist and his family were heading towards Taman Murni Jaya when the incident occurred at around 7.30pm on Saturday (Jan 3).

“The man lost control of his motorcycle after they were chased by a dog.

“He entered the opposite lane and then crashed into the back of a lorry that was parked on the road shoulder.

“The motorcyclist died on the spot after suffering from head injuries while his 28-year-old wife and one-year-old baby were rushed to the hospital,” he said in a statement on Sunday (Jan 4).

He added that the wife and baby are currently being treated for head injuries at the emergency ward of Hospital Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom in Kluang.

He said the 42-year-old lorry driver who parked the lorry on the road tested negative for drugs.

The case is investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
