Elderly woman found dead alone in Taiping house


IPOH: An elderly woman was found dead inside a locked house at Kamunting near Taiping on Saturday (Jan 3).

Perak Fire and Rescue Department acting deputy director of operations Shazlean Mohd Hanafiah said the department received a call at 1.05pm requesting assistance from the police to force open the door of a house at Taman Azizul Rahman.

He said a team from the Kamunting Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene eight minutes later and forced open the locked door using specialised equipment.

“Upon entry, firefighters discovered a 64-year-old woman lying in the living room.

“She was later confirmed dead by health personnel who were at the scene.

“The victim’s body was subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation,” he said.

He said a total of nine firefighters were involved in the operation.
