PAS ready to lead Perikatan after Muhyiddin’s resignation


KUALA LUMPUR: PAS has offered to take the helm of Perikatan Nasional following Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s announcement that he will step down as coalition chief.

PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan (pic) said in a statement on Tuesday (Dec 30) that it was time to strengthen Perikatan and called on all parties to reflect on recent developments within the coalition.

"We must take all steps to further strengthen the people's trust in Perikatan. PAS hereby offers its willingness to lead Perikatan, to strengthen, organise and prepare for the state elections and the 16th General Election," he said.

Takiyuddin also emphasised the party’s commitment to upholding the rule of law, democratic principles, the constitutional monarchy, and the guidance of the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, for the benefit of the state and the people.
