Message of respect, unity and love for Christmas


PETALING JAYA: Rulers and leaders conveyed their message of unity and love as they extended their Christmas greetings to Christians celebrating the festival today.

Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and Tengku Permaisuri Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin led the Christmas greetings.

“May this festival be celebrated full of happiness and prosperity, unity, and gratitude with family and community around,” Sultan Sharafuddin said in a post through the Selangor Royal Office social media account.

Sultan Sharafuddin expressed hope that the spirit of love and mutual respect generated through this Christmas celebration will continue to strengthen unity and harmony among multiracial communities in the country.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said genuine unity emerges when every citizen is respected, protected and given space to contribute to the future of the country.

When the world is facing economic uncertainties, humanitarian conflicts and social divisions, Malaysia chooses the path of unity, dialogue and mutual respect as the basis of building the country’s future, he said.

“The Madani government believes harmony is not born by chance, but built through fair policies, equal opportunities, and a culture of mutual understanding among all faiths and ethnicities.

“In celebration of this Christmas Day, let us strengthen our resolve to reject hatred and cultivate empathy, as Malaysia’s strength lies in unity in diversity.

“Merry Christmas to all Christians who are celebrating it, may this celebration bring peace, harmony and prosperity to Malaysia and all its citizens,” he said.

Deputy Prime Minister II Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said Malaysia’s strength lies in its diversity.

“Warm Christmas greetings to all Malaysians who are celebrating. May this Christmas bring moments of joy, reflection, and togetherness, while reminding us of the importance of unity, harmony, and mutual respect in our diverse society.

“Malaysia’s strength lies in its diversity. As we celebrate this festive season, let us remain thoughtful in our words and actions, and continue to respect religious, cultural, and community sensitivities, so that harmony and understanding are preserved for all.

“Our differences should not divide us, but bring us closer,” he said.

MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said when there are uncertainties, Christmas is a reminder that the light will break through.

“The birth of Christ brings a hope that steadies us, a peace that calms us, and a joy that lifts our spirits even in challenging times.

“May this season fill your heart with His hope, His peace and His enduring joy. Wishing you and your loved ones a blessed Christmas,” he said.

Sabah Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Musa Aman said Christmas is more than a celebration, as it carries the universal values of love, peace and hope which is a principle for building a society that is united and respectful of diversity.

“In Sabah, we are proud of the harmony among our multi-ethnic and multi-religious communities who live peacefully and depend on one another. This is our strength, and it must be safeguarded,” he said in his Christmas and New Year message.

Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Datuk Seri Arthur Joseph Kurup urged Malaysians celebrating Christmas to embrace the values of love, hope and unity.

He said the celebration is not only a religious occasion but also a reminder of universal human values that strengthen the bonds of the nation.

In his Christmas message, Kurup said that these values form the foundation of Malaysia Madani, which focuses on harmony, mutual respect and togetherness regardless of religion, race or background.

“It is this spirit that will continue to strengthen our ties as one big Malaysian family,” Kurup, who is Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) president, said.

National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang said harmony forms the foundation of national stability, and unity is essential for nation-building.

“Christmas reminds us that harmony is the basis of national stability. Without harmony, there is no peace and without peace, it is difficult to build a stable and prosperous nation,” he said.

Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said Christmas reflects universal values such as love, sacrifice, reflection, peace and hope, essential for fostering a harmonious and respectful society in line with Malaysia Madani’s aspirations.

PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said Malaysia must remain an example of a healthy and mature co-existence at a time when the world is facing worsening conflicts and misunderstandings,

“PAS extends its Christmas greetings to all Malaysians of the Christian faith in the hope that it will be a moment to strengthen relationships, renew hope and reaffirm our commitment to a culture of love and goodwill among all people,” the said.

He said despite differences in religion and belief, Malaysians must be united in purpose and aspiration to build a nation that is just, safe and dignified for all.
