Woman-in-bag murder linked to financial row

SEREMBAN: Police believe a dispute over money led to the murder of the woman, whose body was found stuffed in a bag and buried at a vacant house near Kampung Batu 4, Pedas, in Negri Sembilan.

Negri Sembilan deputy police chief Senior Asst Comm Muhammad Idzam Jaafar said preliminary investigations indicated that the victim and the main suspect were involved in an argument prior to the incident.

“The conflict is believed to have stemmed from the victim allegedly asking the suspect for money,” he said.

SAC Muhammad Idzam added that the main suspect was remanded and police were still recording his statement.

“As the suspect has only just been remanded, the interrogation process is ongoing to determine the actual motive.

“However, based on the evidence, it is believed that the victim and the 51-year-old suspect had an argument before the victim was strangled.

“This is based on the investigation and the suspect’s statement. The suspect and the victim are said to have argued at the victim’s house in Ampang.

“The fight was caused by financial issues and further investigations are still ongoing,” he said, Bernama reported.

On Friday, SAC Muhammad Idzam said police arrested the main suspect in Genting Sempah, Pahang.

With this latest arrest, a total of two men have been held to assist in the investigation.

The first suspect was detained in Melaka and has been remanded for a week to facilitate investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Last Thursday, state police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the deceased was believed to be the same woman reported missing in Ampang, Selangor, earlier in the week.

The woman, identified as Suri Narudin, was reportedly unreachable since Dec 8.
