Yayasan PETRONAS, Social Welfare Dept distribute festive goodies to 100 underprivileged families in Labuan

KOTA KINABALU: Christmas is just around the corner and some 100 underprivileged families in Labuan were treated to festive goodies, thanks to Yayasan PETRONAS.

Through its Uplifting Lives programme, the foundation shared essential food items and cookies in collaboration with the Labuan Social Welfare Department to these families.

The handing-over event took place Friday (Dec 19) at the department’s office hall, where food items and cookies were distributed to 20 beneficiaries.

The remaining 80 collected their packages at the department’s office on the same day.

PETRONAS Chemicals Methanol Sdn Bhd Hiffani M Jalil and Labuan Social Welfare Department deputy director Maradona Lawrence, marked the occasion by presenting the items to the recipients.

Also present were PETRONAS Sabah and Labuan regional office senior manager Nellie Ramiza Busu and Labuan Corporation Socio-Economics Department assistant director Luqman Hakim.

Through this initiative, Petronas continues its efforts to support education, strengthen community resilience and promote socio-economic advancement - reflecting its role as an energy partner dedicated to giving back to communities and contributing meaningfully to their long-term progress.

The Uplifting Lives programme is carried out throughout the year across Malaysia in conjunction with major celebrations, namely Aidilfitri, Chinese New Year, Deepavali, Gawai and Kaamatan.
