Decomposed body discovered by riverbank in Johor Baru

JOHOR BARU: The decomposed body of a man was found by the riverbank close to an apartment near here.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said the unidentified body was found at Sungai Bayu Puteri in Kampung Bakar Batu at 5.59pm on Wednesday (Dec 17).

“We have not been able to identify the body as it has decomposed, and no identification documents were found.

“There was also an absence of a BCG (Bacillus Calmette-Guérin) vaccination scar on the body and the fingerprints could not be identified due to peeling skin,” he said in a statement on Thursday (Dec 18).

He said the body was sent to Hospital Sultanah Aminah for post-mortem, but the cause of death was unascertained.

“We are still in the process of identifying the body - so far, no missing persons bearing similar physical attributes have been reported in the area,” he added.

Those with information about the incident are encouraged to go to the nearest police station or call the Johor police hotline at 07-221 2999.
