KUALA LUMPUR: Traffic volume is expected to reach up to 2.2 million vehicles per day in conjunction with the year-end school holidays, Christmas, and the 2026 New Year celebrations.
PLUS Malaysia Bhd (PLUS) said that the projected peak traffic conditions on its highway networks are expected on December 19, 20, 22, 23, 24, 26, and 27, as well as January 2, 2026.
In view of this, PLUS advises the public to plan their journeys early and utilise the MyPLUS-TTA digital travel schedule to ensure smooth movement on the highways during this period.
"PLUS provides MyPLUS-TTA, which can be accessed via the PLUS app, to help highway users plan their trips more efficiently and assist in ensuring smoother traffic flow. With the latest improvements, the MyPLUS-TTA digital schedule is accessible not only during festive seasons but also on selected peak days," PLUS said in a statement on Wednesday (Dec 17).
PLUS noted that throughout this period, the public can use MyPLUS-TTA to select the most optimum travel times for the PLUS Highway and the East Coast Expressway 2 (LPT2) for trips between Friday and Jan 4, 2026.
The PLUS app is available for free download via the Google Play Store (Android) and the App Store (iPhone).
To manage the increased volume and ease traffic flow, PLUS will activate Smart Lanes at 30 high-traffic locations across the highway network during this holiday and festive season.
"At the same time, highway users can obtain the latest traffic information via the PLUS app, the PUTRI Virtual Assistant, following the X accounts @plustrafik and @lpt2trafik, electronic message signs (VMS) at selected locations, or through major national radio stations," PLUS added.
Additionally, the public can contact the PLUSLine at 1800-88-0000 or LPT2Line at 1800-88-0220, both operating 24 hours a day, for emergency assistance.
"PLUS also advises highway users to use the PLUS app, Waze, or Google Maps to better plan their travel routes during this festive season," the statement added. - Bernama
