RM1.4bil in JPJ summonses still unpaid, as DG reminds offenders discounts end in 14 days

KUALA LUMPUR: Vehicle owners still have 14 days to claim a 50% discount on Road Transport Department (JPJ) summonses.

JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said so far nearly 4.9 million outstanding summonses worth almost RM1.4bil have yet to be settled.

“As of Dec 16, a total of 520,000 summonses have been settled, generating RM70mil in payments,” he said.

Aedy Fadly urged the public not to wait until the last minute and to take advantage of the discount period before it ends.

He added that the discount, which began on Nov 1, will end on Dec 30, after which all summonses will revert to their original full amount.

“Starting Jan 1, 2026, there will be no further discounts for outstanding JPJ summonses,” he said.

Motorists can check and settle their summonses through the MyJPJ application, the JPJ portal, or at JPJ counters nationwide.

He said failure to resolve outstanding summonses could affect future dealings with the department, including matters related to vehicle and licence transactions.
